From the heartlands of rural Iowa, Alyx's affinity for music blossomed in the sacred halls of the church. A self-taught guitarist, Alyx delved into the realms of music production and songwriting, crafting a distinctive smooth sound that blends elements of pop and R&B. Alyx embarked on a transformative musical voyage that lead to the release of his debut single, "MINUTES" in 2015, recorded at the esteemed Lounge Studios, a division of Atlantic Records located in Manhattan, New York. This milestone paved the way for an upward trajectory in Alyx's career, garnering recognition both locally and internationally.
Collaboration lies at the heart of Alyx's creative ethos, with partnerships flourishing with luminaries such as Jim Swim, Dondria, and Blookah. Together with Jim Swim, Alyx has crafted musical gems like "Fruit to the Knife" (2022) and "After the Last Time" (2023), setting the stage for an eagerly awaited EP album under a refreshing new alias "SUN CENTAURI," slated for release this fall.
Alyx's musical talent has graced renowned stages, including performances at esteemed music festivals such as Springboard Music Festival (Houston, TX), 80/35 (Des Moines, IA), and Mission Creek Festival (Iowa City, IA). The echoes of his melodies have reverberated at iconic venues like the B.B. King Blues Club (New York, NY), while collaborations with EDM artists Blookah & ALIGN have recently found a platform on The CW Network and Hulu.
Drawing inspiration from visionaries such as SZA, Sampha, Frank Ocean, and 6lack, Alyx Rush's artistry is a testament to individuality and innovation, a fusion of influences that culminates in a sound that is uniquely his own.
